Thor Ragnarok comes out this weekend. My recommendation is to skip the Hollywood flotsam, instead pick up D’Aulaires’ ‘Book of Norse Myths and read it with your children.

The book costs the same as a movie ticket. Your children will have fonder memories of the hours of time spent reading the book with you over the 90 minutes of ‘splosions. Children will love the stories of Thor choking out the world serpent Jormungand or cracking a Stone Giant over the head with mjolnir even if trying to explain how Loki gave birth to Odin’s eight legged horse Sleipnir can be a little awkward.
